A Great 1st Event!

On Sunday the 10th of August 2008, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, Canterbury Poets - in conjunction with Save As Writers Group and Conversation Poetry - held a poetry evening at the Orange Street Music Club, the City's premier venue for live events. Click here for a full(ish) report.
"I didn't get to read in the open mic!"

Because so many people were keen to read in the open mic slot at the last event at Orange Street, 8 people didn't get to read.

Don't worry! You'll get first refusal in September. Also, we'll be kicking off at 6:00pm on the dot next time, so there'll be a much longer open mic slot.

So please try to arrive between 5:45pm (when the doors open) and 6:00pm, and if you have any poetry pamphlets or leaflets for your own events, etc, feel free to pass them around! Or sell your publications on the Table.

East Kent Live Lit
EKLAAP
, the East Kent Local Arts Authority Partnership, is pleased to announce the launch of East Kent Live Lit, a live literature network for writers, artists, producers, promoters and venues in East Kent.

EKLAAP was formed in 2004 to support the growth of contemporary arts in East Kent and to access the benefits and added value that joint working creates.  East Kent Live Lit aims to facilitate networking for local artists, provide opportunities for professional development and training, and work toward encouraging and creating bold new work.

The first network meeting was held in Canterbury in August 2008 and further local meetings will be held in Shepway, Thanet and Ashford in September and October, with a view to producing an evening celebrating live literature in East Kent this autumn.  For more information, or to contact coordinator Peggy Riley, please visit the new website:
