Because so many people were keen to read in the open mic slot at the last event at Orange Street, 8 people didn't get to read. Don't worry! You'll get first refusal in September. Also, we'll be kicking off at 6:00pm on the dot next time, so there'll be a much longer open mic slot. So please try to arrive between 5:45pm (when the doors open) and 6:00pm, and if you have any poetry pamphlets or leaflets for your own events, etc, feel free to pass them around! Or sell your publications on the Table. |

As is a local writing group for both students and non-students, chaired by award-winning local poet Luigi Marchini. For more

click here to visit the Save As Writers Group page. | EKLAAP, the East Kent Local Arts Authority Partnership, is pleased to announce the launch of East Kent Live Lit, a live literature network for writers, artists, producers, promoters and venues in East Kent. EKLAAP
was formed in 2004 to support the growth of contemporary arts in East Kent and
to access the benefits and added value that joint working creates. East Kent Live Lit aims to facilitate
networking for local artists, provide opportunities for professional
development and training, and work toward encouraging and creating bold new
work.
The first network meeting
was held in Canterbury in August 2008 and further local meetings will be held
in Shepway, Thanet and Ashford in September and October, with a view to
producing an evening celebrating live literature in East Kent this autumn. For more information, or to contact

The event followed an English Forum for Kent and Medway. Earthworks was hosted by the University of Kent on June 19th and luminaries included John Agard and Canterbury Poet Laureate Patricia Debney.
